Attention all Continuing SLPS Students:

Students who have already been approved for the the 2018/2019 academic year  

  • If you have not filled out our Winter application and submitted these documents to us already, please do so today.  Along with your application we will require your Winter 2019 Course Schedule / Timetable and your Fall 2018 Statement of Marks as soon as you have access to them.  You can either scan Email to:

For Prospective Students:

  • If you were applying for sponsorship through SLPS for a January 01st start, you should have already submitted the following, on or before Monday, October 15, 2018, if you have not, our next application deadline is June 01st for September 2019 start:
    • As a Returning Student:
      • SLPS Winter 2019 Sponsorship Application and Waiver form;
      • Acceptance Letter from your institution;
      • Recent transcripts from all educational institutions that you have attended in the past;
      • Confirmation of Course Registration (January – April 2019);
      • Updated Career Plan (if it’s been more than 5 years);
      • Tuition Assessment Fees;
    • As a New Student:
      • all the above plus Eligibility confirmation from Saddle Lake Membership;
      • Career Plan

Aboriginal Student Discovery Day

This year we have 6 Saddle Lake Cree Nation grade 12 students attending this event.  These students are from Kihew Asiniy, Ashmont Secondary School and from the Outreach Program in Saddle Lake.  They will be learning about the programs that are available from the U of A, more importantly, the Transition Year Program, application process, Bursaries & Scholarships, Housing, Financial awareness and so much more.  The Aboriginal Student Services is now called the First Peoples’ House.

  • the Aboriginal Student Services has changed their name to First Peoples’ House

Attention all Saddle Lake Cree Nation Post Secondary Students!

Are you planning on continuing into the Spring/Summer term?


If you are or your program continues into the intersession term, then you will need to fill out our Saddle Lake Post Secondary Sponsorship Application Form before March 15th.  Also, as a reminder to all SLPS students, you should have already submitted your Fall 2017 statement of marks, if you have not, please do this today to avoid any delays in your PSA.

Treaty Annuity Payment Summer Jobs for Aboriginal Students

Are you looking for an exciting and unique work experience opportunity this summer that would involve travel and working directly with First Nations? Well here is an opportunity for you! The Department of Indigenous Services Canada (DISC) has a number of opportunities for work as a Treaty Annuity Payment student this summer.

Typical tasks may include: 

  • corresponding and liaising with First Nations to obtain dates and time of Treaty Pay
  • corresponding and liaising with Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to confirm attendance
  •  coordinating and making travel arrangements for volunteers
  •  travelling to First Nations communities (Note: Travel may require working some weekends and evenings and travel to remote communities)
  • distribution of Treaty Pay to First Nation members
  • reconciliation of Treaty Pay lists
  •  data input


  • Full-time from April 30 to August 31, 2018

SLPS Seeking an Office Administration Assistant

This  position is to provide administrative support to post secondary staff and perform general secretarial duties such as data entry, greeting visitors, answering phone calls, handling and filing of incoming/outgoing correspondence and financial records.  Handle routine inquiries regarding education from both general membership and students.
