Attention all Saddle Lake Post Secondary!

Please be advised that we have moved up our April 2020 Post Secondary Allowance (PSA) distribution to Friday, March 20, 2020 via DIRECT DEPOSITIt has been recommended by Saddle Lake Chief and Council that the distribution be moved up due to the emergency situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.  This will give you the opportunity to purchase what you require to prepare yourselves for the days ahead.  As you know, the situation around the COVID-19 is constantly changing and updates are being posted as soon as we can to ensure you are all informed.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Betty Ann Cardinal, Post Secondary Student Advisor or Amberly Makokis, Administrative Assistant who are both in the office.

The Saddle Lake Education Authority Main Office – Cultural Education, Museum, Transportation and Post Secondary have prepared our Safety Action Plan that outlines the necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of our staff, students and community members.

Be prepared, please review or download the Saddle Lake Cree Nations COVID-19 INFORMATION PACKAGE.  This package includes answers to many questions that are being asked, provides reliable resources to review and a detailed plan as to how the Saddle Lake Cree Nation is moving forward during this time.  Alberta Health Services  website remains to be an excellent resource.

The World Health Organization changed the name to COVID-19

Human Coronaviruses are common and are typically associated with mild illnesses similar to the common cold.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

Symptoms may be very mild or more serious, however, the biggest symptoms are:

  • #1 Cough
  • #2 Difficulty Breathing
  • #3 Fever

Symptoms may take up to 14 days to appear after exposure to the virus.

HOW IS THE COVID-19 COMMONLY SPREAD and WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF INFECTION?

COVID-19 are most commonly SPREAD from an infected person through the following:

  • respiratory droplets when someone coughs or sneezes;
  • close personal contact, such as touching or shaking hands;
  • touching something with the virus on it, then touching your eyes, nose or mouth before washing your hands.

Best way to PREVENT the spread of infection is:

  • Stay informed and Be Prepared and follow the advice of your local health authorities and be aware of the restrictions put in place on travel, movement and gatherings – Chief Eric Shirt made a statement to the members of the Saddle Lake Cree Nations; Resource Material;

  • Hand Washing is very important – wash your hands with soap and water or by using an alcohol-based hand rub – KILLS VIRUSES that may be on your hands;

  • Close Personal Contact – such as touching or shaking hands – remain at least 2 meter distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezes;

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouthcontaminated hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose and mouth and from there the virus can enter your body;

  • Stay home if your sick to avoid to protect others and yourself and cover your mouth and nose with your arm or tissues to reduce the spread of germs & immediately dispose of any issues you have used into the garbage as soon as possible and wash your hands afterwards

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, such as toys, electron devices and doorknobs

FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2015

Aboriginal Student Discovery Day is a full day event where student will have an opportunity to:

  1. Learn about the U of A Undergraduate Programs, Admission Requirements, Housing, Student Services, International Opportunities, as well as next steps for applying.
  2. Discuss University life with current undergraduate students.
  3. Speak with faculty and services representatives.
  4. Tour Lister Centre Residence and the University of Alberta North Campus
  5. Meet new friends from other schools or communities
  6. Win great prizes!

With over 200 undergraduate programs, 450 student groups, and a number of activities and services on campus, there is so much for you to discover at the University of Alberta.
